Driver36% offWhat to check when buying a second hand driver
Most drivers are made with 9 to 10.5 degrees of loft. Higher lofts launch the ball higher and suit slower swing speeds, so if you struggle to get the ball up, look at 10.5 degrees or more.
Most modern drivers also have an adjustable hosel, which lets you change the loft by a degree or two. The adjustment tool and headcover are not always included, so check the listing.
What to check
- Shaft flex. Regular flex suits most club golfers, senior flex suits slower swings and stiff suits faster ones.
- The crown. Small scratches are cosmetic. Paint marks from teeing the ball too high, known as sky marks, do not affect how it plays but should be reflected in the price.
- The face. Look for dents or cracks in the photos. Light wear in the middle is normal.
- Left or right handed. Check the dexterity on the listing.
